New Government Grants In The United States

by on April 17, 2010

If you are looking to apply for a government grant in the US then you have come to the right place for information. Some examples of grants you can apply for include education grants, housing grants, medical grants, personal grants and business grants. In 2009 the government made a selection of programs available to US citizens. These programs included 1,000 Federal Programs, 30,000 Private Foundations, 24,000 State Programs and 20,000 Scholarship Programs. As of 2010 there are as many as 1,500 government grant programs that are available to citizens through 57 different federal agencies. The government of the United States has set aside billions of dollars for funding programs and new government grants.

Many citizens are not aware that they can apply for government grants to help them with everything from tough economic times, to starting a business to paying off medical bills.  Government grants in the US are free money and there is no limit on how many you are able to apply for.

The wonderful thing about applying for government grants is that it does not require a credit check and there is no need for a co-signer(s). You do not have to pay back this type of grant. As well, those with bad credit or those who have been bankrupt in the past may still be eligible.

Let us take a brief look at two of these kinds of grants- the housing grant and the business grant.

Housing Grants

Housing grants are funded by the United States government as well as private foundations. This type of grant can make it possible for you the recipient to buy a new house or renovate your current home. The funds available for these grants range from $500 to $5,000,000. Examples of housing grants include:

•    First Time Home Buyer
•    Housing and Real Estate Funding
•    Home Repair
•    Mobile Homes
•    Land Development

Small Business Grants

If you wish to start a business or expand a business this can be an expensive endeavor. You need to invest money to earn money and this is not easy for people who do not have much capital to get them started. Business loans are an option but they must be paid back. Worse yet they must be paid back with often a high interest rate attached. That is where a government business grant can be of help to you. If you take advantage of a government grant for your business then you can enjoy the benefits of free government funding.

These grants are free, as previously stated, because you do not have to reimburse the government. It sounds too good to be true but it really isn’t! Most people simply do not take the time to explore the options available to them. As we all know, the government is not going to show up at anyone’s door and offer them free funds! Take the time to find out what a government grant could do for you.
