Under the Office of Public Health and Science, the FY10 Support for Pregnant and Parenting Teens and Women FOA grant is being offered associated with education, health, social services, and income security. This grant, filed as CFDA 93.500 is a Pregnancy Assistance Fund Program with 25 awards and funding of $500,000 to $2 million.
Eligible applications include State governments for all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Federally recognized Native American tribal governments, non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service other than institutions of higher education.
The purpose of the FY10 Support for Pregnant and Parenting Teens and Women FOA is for programs that would assist pregnant teens and women, as well as parenting teens and women to be developed and implemented. Under the Office of Public Health and Science, the Office of Adolescent Health or OAH is now accepting applications for assistance under this grand. This assistance is authorized by Sections 10211-10214 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which appropriates $25 million annually for fiscal years 2010 through 2019.
In coordination and collaboration with the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of HHS, authorization has been given for a Pregnancy Assistance Fund to be established and administered. With this, pregnant and parenting teens and women would receive the assistance needed. Although this particular grant will not exceed three years and funding for two to three years would be based on availability, OAH expects that a wide range of projects regarding size and scope of activities will be funded.
To apply for this particular educational grant, the State’s authorized representative is required to submit a signed letter along with the completed application. Other requirements include documentation that establishes the authority of the State’s authorized representative to apply for and administer any grant funding on behalf of the State. Agencies allowed to act on behalf of the State include health agencies, human services, and state education, among others.
The application for this grant can be developed by the State’s authorized representation alone or in connection with other relevant State agencies to include health agencies, human services, and state education. Applications for this grant can be submitted electronically or by mail.
For any organization that has had or currently has a grantee business relationship with any grant services by the Office of Grants Management, and application is being done as a part of ongoing grantee activities, the website GrantSolutions.gov would need to be assessed. For submitting the grant application electronically, a user account would need to be established with this website. After signing onto the GrantSolution website, the entire application for this grant can be handled online. However, required original signatures associated with the application or documents would need to be mailed or hand delivered to the Grants Service Office no later than the due date.
